Mission

Comics Against Cancer is a non-profit organization which aims to support the fight against this terrible disease by

raising funds and awareness through an annual stand-up comedy show and other related events.

Behind The Mission

Founded by comedian, Steve Burr, Comics Against Cancer was created in 2009 as a way to honor the memory of

his mother and cancer victim, Ruth Burr and in doing so help others deal with the same life-changing diagnosis she

did with the best medicine available...laughter.

Drawing on the relationships he has developed over his seventeen year career as an

internationally touring performer, Steve tackles this mission by assembling some of

the brightest and funniest comedians in the business today to produce an annual

stand-up comedy show, as well as other great fundraising efforts throughout the year,

each jam-packed with laughter from start to finish and enhanced by the participation of

these hysterical entertainers.

With proceeds raised through these events going directly to the fight against cancer,

CAC helps by providing the money necessary to fund research as well as administering

financial aid to those currently battling the disease.  In addition to that, these fundraisers

give those whose lives have been affected by cancer a meaningful day or night of laughter and smiles, allowing

them to temporarily lay their concerns aside which helps promote healing both physically and emotionally.

Simply put, Comics Against Cancer exists because the worst disease needs the best medicine.
